Game of Thrones star Kit Harington checked into a luxury rehabilitation facility a few weeks before the show's ending on May 19, according to a report from Page Six . According to the report, his stay was prompted by struggles with stress and alcohol. Multiple sources say that the ending of Game of Thrones "really hit him hard."
Harington has been at the luxury Connecticut health retreat Priv-Swiss for nearly a month, the report states. Harington is undergoing a series of tests and therapies while at the facility, including "psychological coaching, practicing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy to combat stress and deal with negative emotions."
The actor, 32, played Jon Snow for all eight seasons of Thrones.
Harington's representative confirmed his stay with Page Six, saying Kit has decided to utilize this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues."
It's extremely important for everyone to value their personal well-being and mental health state above all else. The fact that Harington is taking time to address stress is a brave act. For someone with such a high profile, taking a bit of time to regroup shouldn't be stigmatized; in fact, it's something that should be regarded as a great example. In fact, men not seeking treatment for mental health issues is literally killing them . A video of Harington very emotionally reacting to a major point in the finale, taken from HBO's behind-the-scenes documentary The Last Night made the rounds earlier today.
Kit looks really good and appears to be very focused on his health and wellness," one local resident told Page Six. "I have personally seen him out in the community many times. I think its wonderful that he is taking time to take care of himselfmore people should.
